    The Async/Sync 2-Wire Short-Haul Modem runs at amazing speeds—async data goes 38.4 kbps; sync data travels at 128 kbps. And you get this astounding data rate even at this modem’s maximum distance of 3.4 miles (5.4 km) over your existing, inexpensive, 2-wire twisted-pair lines! Because of the short-haul modem’s adaptive echo-cancelling technique, full-duplex is possible over only two wires.

    Perform diagnostics on local analog loopback as well as local and remote digital loopback. You can test both the local and remote modems and the line at either end when you’re in the digital loopback mode. And you can control the loopbacks with a manual switch or through the DTE interface.

    This short-haul modem is coupled to the line through an isolation transformer that protects against AC or DC overvoltages, and internal, external, and receive clocking keep your data moving smoothly.
