GarrettCom extends the capabilities of its powerful yet compact 6-port Magnum ES42 and ESD42 Edge Switches as well as PES42 PoE Edge Switches with a line-up of IPS42 integrated power supply packages. The IPS42 supplies Magnum PES42 PoE Edge Switches with integrated AC power supplies for video surveillance applications, offers integrated AC/DC, 125 VDC dual source, 48 VDC dual source, 24 VDC dual source, or integrated AC power input for hundreds of individual Magnum Edge Switch configurations.

The IPS42 is a chassis that brings big-switch internal power supplies to compact unmanaged industrial edge switches. The AC/DC model allows the user to connect into 125VDC substation power or into worldwide AC power. Dual-source models operate from either of two DC power inputs and provide high availability. Thefive models of the Magnum IPS42 Internal PowerSupplychassis yield a rugged Edge Switch package for mission critical industrial networking applications.

DC for Dual Source Models of IPS42

The Magnum IPS42 DualSRC models have Dual DC power input, for continuity of operation when either of the DC input sources are interrupted. Available for 125VDC, -48VDC, or 24VDC.

Power Over Ethernet Capabilities

Power Over Ethernet (PoE) technology describes any system that transmits electrical power, in addition to data, to remote devices over standard twisted-pair wire in an Ethernet network. This technology is useful for powering network devices where it would be inconvenient or infeasible to supply power separately. Such devices include IP telephones, wireless LAN access points, IP cameras, IP sensors and instruments in industry, IP radios, digital clocks, and more. The technology is comparable to POTS telephones, which also receive power and data (although analog) through the same cable.

PoE works without requiring modification to the existing Ethernet copper cabling infrastructure. Power over Ethernet is standardized in IEEE 802.3af. The IEEE 802.3af-compliant power sources supply 48 volts DC to devices at a maximum current of 350 mA. This allows devices to draw up to 15.4 watts.The new IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) standard raises the wattage to 25.5 watts.
