     ETHERNET with the globally accepted TCP/IP protocol will most probably either provide a connection to the established "Fieldbus World" or the Sensor-Actuator level.Either via a gateway to the "Fieldbus World" or straight through downwards to the lowest communication level. The transmission rates are presently either 10 Mbit/s (ETHERNET) or at least 100 Mbit/s = LAN CAT.5 requirements (Fast Ethernet = Industrial Ethernet) respectively CAT.6a or CAT.7 requirements.; With regard to transmission rates, the "ETHERNET world" is cut into:; ETHERNET = 10 Mbit/s; FAST ETHERNET = 100 Mbit/s; GIGABIT ETHERNET = 1000 Mbit/s
